The RESEED River Story

2023 is an exciting year for The RESEED Centre community as we celebrate 10 years operating a hub for positive change, encouraging people to be healthy, live sustainably, and help build a resilient community.

We participated in two workshops on  26 February & 27 May  which resulted in all present consenting to the following proposal:

“That the people of The RESEED Centre adopt the Sociocracy model for decision-making and operational procedures with the aim to be fully implemented for 30 Nov 2023 with 3 monthly reviews.”

What is ‘Sociocracy’?

Sociocracy is Permaculture for people – Erin Young

The Permaculture principles of “Observe, interpret and interact” and “small and slow solutions” are a perfect match for learning and implementing sociocracy.

“Sociocracy combines consent decision-making, a decentralised system of authority and intentional processes to improve our decisions and processes over time into a governance system that supports effective and efficient process while increasing connection, listening and co-creation among members”

Watch this: This is a 18-minute introduction to sociocracy (aka Dynamic Governance) produced by Sociocracy For All (www.sociocracyforall.org).

July 2023 Update:

We have now formed four Circles!  We are all learning together as we continue to implement this new governance model Sociocratic Circle-organization Method (abbreviated SCM, often referred to generically as sociocracy).

The SCM is a system for organising work and making decisions that guide doing that work.

Here’s where we’re at now – if you would like to know more or are interested in joining a Circle contact Nettie:  [email protected]
