Zen shiatsu is a form of physical manipulation that was developed in Japan in 20th century. It is based on a full oriental medical system that like Accupuncture maps the body in terms of a network of meridian pathways through which your natural energy flows (known as chi).
Zen Shiatsu assists in giving you a deeply relaxed yet energised state and can relieve tension, fatigue and stiffness .

How does it work ?
Shiatsu is a Japanese word which means finger pressure. By the simple application of pressure and stretching shiatsu changes the movement of blood and energy through the body to strengthen the immune system and trigger self healing and therefore correct imbalances in the body. This also keeps circulation moving by making sure the blood vessels are able to effectively deliver necessary nutrients and drain waste products through the entire system
Diagnosis of an imbalance is treated before it develops into an illness and treatment allows self healing to occur.
What happens during a treatment?
Before your initial treatment the practitioner will ask you about your medical history, general health and specific conditions which takes 15minutes.
Treatment can be conducted on a massage table or on the floor. No body oils are used and you remain fully clothed therefore you need to wear loose comfortable clothing.
Your whole body is treated as well as problem areas.
A treatment takes 1 hour.
At the end of the treatment you are urged to just relax for a short while to allow the energy shift to take place you will be shown one or two yoga exercises to practise at home which will assist in achieving and maintaining well being.

Introducing Viviana Miles
Viviana has been practising Zen Shiatsu for 17years. She has worked with various age groups and problems.
She started her path in a more healing mode teaching nutrition in high schools. Here she found herself suffering increasingly higher stress levels from the demands of high school teaching and bouts of poor energy.
A growing desire to heal at a deeper level directed her into studying various modalities. This started with Homeopathy then kinesology and Reiki.
It was not until a series of Acupuncture treatments and Chinese herbs that she finally found herself feeling calmer and that her energy was returning.
She started looking into TCM and felt it really made sense, worked in a wholistic way at a very deep level. In 1988 after receiving a Shiatsu treatment and knowing she didn’t feel quite comfortable working with needles that she began studying Zen Shiatsu.
She has a Diploma of Zen Shiatsu from Renaissance Healing Centre Bondi junction.
She chose Zen shiatsu as it incorporates yoga correctives which a client can practise at home as she believes in empowering a client to assist in their healing as the Shiatsu treatment coupled with the yoga correctives work by releasing blocked energy. Zen shiatsu studies have also given Viviana a knowledge of Macrobiotic cooking .
Viviana also has a certificate in Hatha yoga from Swami Sarasvati taught yoga and as well vegetarian cooking (Manly warringah community college)and macrobiotic cooking (northern beaches LETS).
